Pulsation tests in a German test laboratory, in which we compared the very stable old original Piaggio auxiliary shafts with our BGM prototypes, resulted in a 50% higher load capacity of the BGM PRO auxiliary shaft. STANDARD STEPS (BGM01822)
The standard steps correspond exactly to the original Piaggio gearbox as it was installed in almost all 50-125cc smallframe engines from the factory. Can be used with the original gears (Z 58-54-50-46) or combined (alternatively to BGM01821) with a short 4 speed (Z 48).

SPORT DISTANCE (BGM01821)
For sportier setups that require a tighter gear connection between gears 3 and 4, BGM01821 is ideal. Here the fourth gear is one tooth shorter so the engine is always perfectly in the powerband when shifting from 3 to 4. Very popular when using a strong resonance exhaust with a tuning cylinder.
Very good alternative to a short 4 gear (Z48) since fewer teeth always result in a more stable gear/outdrive shaft (wider tooth base). Used with the original gear wheels (Z 58-54-50-46).
RACE STEP DOWN (BGM01720)
Here the third gear is already one tooth shorter, the fourth gear already two teeth shorter. EXCEPTIONS
The so-called moped gearboxes (so-called ‘Austria gearboxes’) are an exception.
The Austrian mopeds have a longer secondary gear.
Here it is possible to convert to the BGM Pro auxiliary shaft if the gearwheels are also exchanged. This gearbox was also used on vehicles for other markets (e.g. Portugal).
Also excluded are the vehicles V50 1°series (V5A1T) with 1° series engine (V5A1M up to engine number 92876): These engines have a narrower engine housing as well as a narrower main shaft. Conversion is not possible here.
